Charlotte Report 24 Mar 2010 17:51

I have been trying to trace my family and have had no luck as I cannot find and registration records for any of them.

My family lived in deptford - last location on the 1911 census pender street.
I am looking for births/marraige/deaths of any of the following
-please not all of my dates are approx as I can only find record of them on the census.
Samuel Bailey b 1847 father
Emily Bailey- 1849 Mother
George 1877 son
Walter 1879 son
Henry 1883 son
Samuel 1887 son
William 1888 son

I know that Henry married my great grand mother Flora Hazelden and after her death he remarried a Harriet? and had 2 further children named Henry and Janet.

I cannot find any other records of any of these people.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the births should be on FreeBMD for the children as they were born after 1875 when it became compulsary to register births.
have a look on the 1881 census which is free on Family Search site

Really strange as this thread was marked as a duplicate yesterday but that reply seems to have been deleted

what is odd about that last entry 1891 is that William is transcribed Bailey...but is Cowley on the image which maybe ties in with

Sept 1889

Cowley William Greenwich 1d 964

Charlotte Report 12 Nov 2012 18:11

My apologies for such a long delay; I have been taken very ill with arthritis and have only just been able to start my family tree research again.

Thank you all so much for replying, all be it 2 years ago now. Again sorry.

Yes, I can take Florence Hazelden's marriage.

I now believe George was an error as he is not on any other record?

Found out that father Samuel was in the Royal Horse Guards (kent reg) , and originally from Leicestershire.

Contacted Walter Bailey's descendent who too has never found any documents relating to birth or death of siblings.

Kinda gave up, seems like they were not registered. Not on freeBMD at all.

Not followed up your Cowley lead though, I might try and cross-ref and see if the others were registered Cowley too as I don't know Emily's maiden name.

Can't find:

Births of

Walter Bailey 1877c - 1914

Henry Bailey (on Walter's army record he is referred to as Harry) 1882c

Samuel Bailey 1887c

William Bailey 1888c

Can't find marriage of Emily .....? and Samuel Bailey 1845, as I said Samuel was from Leicestershire. Kibworth Beauchamp.

Walter's children were born all over as he had a long military career. wondered if Samuel Snr could have been too? - No records for him as they were destroyed, already had search done.

Thanks again for your help.
