Edmond George Bennett was born 1914 High Holborn ,he was brother of my Mother Doris Lillian Bennett b 1907 St pancras , she never knew about him .
Edmond was born after my Grandparents failed marriage , although on the birth certificate my Grandfather ,Francis Henry Bennett is named as father.
Have looked at the marriage & death records for him ,but NOTHING ,.

Hi Barbara,

when was he born(exact date) we maybe able to pick a death up on Ancestry for him.

Did your Grandmother remarry or set up home with another partner? If so could Edmond have taken his surname?

Dee
Edmond George Bennett was born 19 May 1914
I have looked for a second marriage ,I think his parents may have divorced as my Grandfather remarried 1924 at St Pancras registry office,a year before his death in 1925 aged 39.he is not shown as a widower

Barbara, I'm thinking tha Edmond was born after his mothers marriage had broken down........... she was still married to Mr Bennett at this point and therefore would be allowed to put his name as the father of Edmond. However if she met up with a Mr Jennings shortyly after (or even he could be Edmonds true father?) then Edmond could have just taken his name as his own???

I suspect they never married - we have an identical situation in our family of a child registered under his mother's married name but who grew up under the surname of her partner, marrying in his assumed name even though there was no marriage.

Thanks Dee,
I have an old address ,posted 1919 to a

Mrs L Johnson 30 Wakefield Street Kings Cross W.C.1,,
I thought that could be my Grandmother as it was from a George Muffin ,her uncle ..
I sent for a marriage cert for the only Lily Bennett I could find that married a Johnson ,,but it was not her ..as the father was incorrect .
