Find Ancestors

I have a James Woodhouse b1840 Church Preen, Shropshire. He is married to Ann (nee Wall) born 1866 Sheinton Shropshire. I have the 1881 Census living Buildwas Shropshire with their 5 children. I am trying to trace them back, I have the name of James Parents William & Anne Woodhouse but don't know any dates etc., I thought perhaps they could be traced back by earlier census to James.

That has to be the one, thank you for that, it also tells me where Ann was born and that is good. I don't think I looked back that far for a birth, also I now know she is a widow and can check that out. Would it be possible to find any of the others please.

I apologise not answering before, I tried yesterday but my internet was playing up and I could not send my reply. I thank you so much for what you have given me I now have to print this off and peruse it very carefully.
With regard to Ann Higgins, sounds correct, upon just looking at the 1841 census that Ozo sent through the names Betsy (Elizabeth) and Gery (Jerimiah) Hardhous. It works very well with your Births.
I really appreciate this as it is all for my sister's, sister-in-law who knows nothing of the family and now I can make up a little family tree for her. I will still probably do some more probing for the family so don't be surprised to see me on here again checking the family out.

Nearly a year on.

James parents were William and Ann Higgins.

William was born about 1807 in Childs Ercall, Shropshire. He was the eldest of six sons born to William Woodhouse and his wife Jane (maiden surname not yet found).

I'm researching one of the sons Egerton Woodhouse who is first found as a publican in 1841 (closely akin to Maltsters) but have tracked down the other brother's too.

The father, William seems to have died before 1841 but the wife, Jane, can be found up to 1851 staying with another son, George.

There are Egerton Woodhouses in Shropshire from the early 1600's, all in the same sort of area. The one I'm researching MUST be related, somehow to the earlier ones but, as yet, I can't find a link between William and the earlier Egertons.

William Woodhouse married Jane Harrison by banns on 16th July 1805 at Chetwynd.

Jane was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Harrison and was born on 2nd June 1782 at Chetwynd Heath
