Thanks, its a possibility that he may have been born in 1866. Although his marraige cert shows him as been 26 in 1887 making his dob 1861 I have always thought he joined the army at the age of 13 (yes) as a groom the same as his father Henry's on his cert.

Hi, I'm looking for help going back in time with HG Cook b. 1861 (no date) in Islington. He married Edith Ellen Mallet in Norwich on 21 Dec 1887. I believe his father was Henry and his mother Elizabeth.. One of their children was Ellen Elizabeth b 4 Feb 1889 Hounslow. My HG served with the 19 Hussars in Egypt and I believed he told a little porky and signed up at a young age. Any help would be greatfully accepted
