I have a Sidney Stephens on my family tree, who was married to Annie Flippence, but cannot find more information about him, either his parents or any offspring he may have had. Any info will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Terry.

I think Annie came from the Pinner area of Middlesex but unfortunately I have no idea where Sidney came from. There are so many Sidney Stephen's that I appreciate it will be a needle in a haystack job.

Terry, you seem to be ignoring Dee's find which looks like a very good bet to me.

I have just found out they apparently had a son called Jack. Any help?

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 17 Mar 2010 14:54

Chances are the above child was Sidney John hence the nickname Jack.

Its quite possible Sidney J Stevens was a son although both surnames appear to be spelt differently. I am always amazed how you researchers come up with the info. Thank to you all.

Hi Terry,

misspelt surnames is quite a common error, even in this day and age, so I wouldn't be put off by that.

Is there nothing else you can tell us? An area of death? Or even Annies year of birth?

You could very well be right on Annies death info. I am honestly ignorant as toany info of that nature, because we didnt seem to take a lot of notice in those days, and now all my older relatives have passed on, so unfortunately there is no-one left to ask.

It's so often the case Terry, I think we all wished we'd listened more when they we still with us........... hence why many of us document everything now, my poor kids will have oodles of paperwork!!!

If you wanted to take a gamble with the death for Annie, it maybe worth ordering the death certificate and see who registered the death, this is very often a close relative (son/daughter)........... you can order online at The General Register, prices go up next month from £7.00 to about £9.50, they normally take around 1 week to arrive.

I'll keep having a dig around, but my main concern is that Annie would have been 30 when the son was born..... so was either of them married previously and this left them unable to marry eachother????

As I have said before Dee, there are so many Steven's about, I think it could be a case of hit and miss. Tx
