did Jack have a second name? If he did & it begins with E chances are he was a john really, and registered as such

( there is a birth for a John right place right time)

As Thomas/Tom appears to be AWOL, it might be an idea to order the MC from the ref SharoningGreece has given you. That will give his declared age, and his father's name if known.

sorry i haven't kept up with you all i did not expect answers so soon. no jack was his name no second name also no birth cert at the time of his death we were unable to find a certificate i think that was because he was from a quaker family from my understanding the records were kept by the friends meeting house i have not yet found the location of this house. thank you all for your help

There should be records for Jack as it was compulsary to record the events by then. And I'm fairly sure his parents marriage as above is the right one. Perhaps they were lost or not sent to the central office.

Even if it was a Quaker service, the details would have been passed to the GRO. I'm not sure if they were licensed. If they weren't they would have married officially in a Reg office, or the local established church. I've seen a Salvation Army one where they were married in the Vestry.

Robert,

Don't rule out the fact that he may have been born John, I have two Jacks in my family tree who eventually turned out to be John.
