I would be very grateful if someone could have a look for this relative on the Ancestry Military Records.
I do not have an age for him, but he died in WW1 1914-1918
William Kennedy b. Laois, Ireland. ( on the church memorial he has the letters I.G.D.S after his name)
Many thanks
Mary

Thankyou all for your replies.
I am afraid I don't know his age. I presume he was born in Coolbanagher, Laois as that is where the memorial is.
His regiment I presume would be I.G.D.S ( whatever that stands for).
I know it is very little to go on, but was just hoping that there weren't too many Kennedy's born in Coolbanagher, Laois.

Thankyou Mel for all those William Kennedy's, but as none of them said Coolbanagher, I don't think they would be right.

Thankyou Vera for your find, but as your one was from Cork, it wouldn't be right.

I think it is like looking for a needle in a haystack, so I had better give up !
Thankyou all very much for your help.

Mary, just to say he wasn't necessarily born in Coolbanagher but could be where he or relatives were living at the time the Memorial was erected.
In our Rutland village there are 10 names on the WW1 memorial, 4 are on there because they were working here, or married a local and 2 because their parents had moved here (they were actually born in London)

Coolbanagher has vast records and are recorded by a local person, and for a 'donation' to the upkeep of the church, they could be made available.
