Latest update - situation resolved. The owner of the tree turns out be a Scallon and the cousin of my wife-parents separated when young and contact lost.

William's parents are actually Stephen and Mary and not Patrick and Anastasia The tree owner has had contact with relatives in Ireland and confimed. Confusion was William was baptised well after birth. Also both families unbelievably made similar name errors.
