Thank you all for your time, I though I would let you know I have found william harry's parents they are wiliam charles chard and helen marriott, success!!

Ah also thank you for the death ref, I now know for almost certain he was a William Harry Chard (father of William Eli) so thi may not be him...

I have been scouting around and am quite stuck when it come to Iris and Dorothy, if anyone can help...

I still can' find ellen. Mary, i traced back after I found Martha living with the Lilly's and William H chard is adopted by the Lilly family (as Ninjalady kindly found). Ellen and her other son Edmund seem to disappear, I have tried finding a death for edmund or as it appears on the census, incorrectly as i found the birth, Edward but nothing... Is anyone any good at finding this info out as i am stumped!

Thank you for all your help, I still can't trace an Ellen Chard put down as his mother... I am now wondering if that was her actual name?!

I am going to further search on his brothers and sisters marriages, although tricky as I have no idea if they stayed in the same area. I have some info on their deaths now aswell, so thank you.

If anyone has any info on William Eli as an adult and whether he had any other children I would be grateful for you input.

Ellen is a widow and the family are living next door to the Catherine, Mary Ann and Evangeline Lilley found on the 1911 census by Mary.

Thank you guys this is really helpful. What does PM'd a marriage mean - I have found one to a woolhead is this the same as you have found?

I am also looking for whether any other children were born to my grandfather, William Eli Chard (1908). I understand he lived in America for a part of his life.

I would also be keen to confirm if Dorothy is definately related as my grandfather, from what little he did say, didn't mention her...

I really also want to know who is grandmother and father were so I can continue the tree as I have stalled at that point.

Hi,

I am the grandchild of William Eli Chard (1908, Bristol) I am trying to trace his siblings and his grandmother and father. He was born to Martha Chard (nee Iles, 1889) and William Harry Chard (1889).

I do not know who his grand parents are for sure, I know his grandmother was, in the census, named as Ellen Chard (1868) and noted as widowed.

I have some information on his siblings but cannot move forward with who they may have married or had children with.

I would be keen to know if anyone could help and provide me with any useful information.
