I am researching my HOCKEY family of Charlton Adam Somerset and have received the marriage certificate of my Geat Great Grandparents William and Eliza Hockey..The two witnesses on the certificate in 1854 are
Henry Hockey b 1821 Charlton Adam Somerset and his wife Eliza Prankard Hockey b 1819 Lydford Somerset. My Ancestry subscription has expired so if some kind person could possibly look for the above census records for Henry and Eliza Hockey I would most grateful.

You might well be right. Thye are by themselves in the 1871 Census .... I have had troube finding them in 1851 though, os I will continue looking

There is also a Public Family Tree on ancestry, which shows no children to the marriage ..... but that of course, may not be accurate!!

Thank You Sylvia once again for the 1871 census maybe a transcribing error if you cant find them in the 1851 census. Is there any entry for Henry Hockey b 1821 Charlton Adam Somerset in the 1841 census. Trying to locate his parents.

it looks as if they did have one child ................... but mayhap he died

I cannot find Eliza in 1841 ..... not even putting in her parents names finds jarvis/jervis in Somerset in 1841

That I G I record is an extracted record, taken from the actual parish record, so it can be trusted ...... as much as any transcripted record can be trusted!!!!


I just cnanot find them on the 1841 to prove it.

I've been looking for j*rvis born 1819 +/- 10 years


and j*rvis 1785 +/- 10 years ..... a guess on birth year based on Eliza's birth.


as well as on forename only, and then narrowing the search ot either Charlton Adam or Lydford
