Although there might be info on Robt's parents in the 1853 parish record, a better bet is his d.cert.

Linda,

Sent you a pm last night showing a possible death for Robert Rodger and his wife Mary Campbell / Rodger. On Scotlandspeople.

The Scottish death certificates register parents names (if they are known by the informant of the death)

Linda

If you haven't found Robert's death certificate (the one born 1830) then you can only surmise that his parents were the Robert Rodger and Marion Stewart that Kath has found for you. While I know that Kath is probably right, if you want an accurate tree you do need that death certificate to confirm his parents! There is no point to tracing them further back until you are sure that these are your relatives.

Marriages on the IGI that are extracted records are available on Scotlandspeople and they sometimes, but not always, give a little more detail e.g. the name and occupation of the fathers of the bride and groom and sometimes witnesses. So it may be worth spending around £1.20 to see what's there.
