Hi
Samuel Leech - Warper and John Leech - Joiner (on marriage cert of John Leech and Mary Ann).

The 1941 I have found they are in ashton, lancashire:
Samuel 55
Ann 30
Sarah 25
John 23
Henry 20
Betty 8
Charles 4

I am presuming that is them due to the location.

In 51 I get lost!

Thank you in advance for your time and help with this. x

Hi, crikey 2 years on and still stuck. Can anyone help please?

As above, John Leech born c1818 married Mary Ann Robinson on 01 June 41, John's father is called Samuel Leech.
Now on the 41 census I can find a family with a samuel Leech, John Leech and several other children (although it doesn't specify relationships) in Ashton Under Lyne in Lancashire where John I know was born.
Now, if that is them in 41, in 51 I have John with Ann and their children, however when I search for samuels other children in 51 I find a few of them living together, no samuel (father) but with a John Leech, who cant be in two places at once. Does this make sense?

Please help if you can, my research skills arent that hot. Thanks x

Thanks for the marriage info Sally - that means that they should be together.

I can only find one vaguely possible but we really need their fathers names from that cert to go any further.

Hi Sal, Dea, thanks for the marriage info, I really should get their marriage cert to give fathers details. I'll order one. The only info I have on mary is that she was born in Salford, Manchester, not a great deal of help I know. Thanks again for looking.

Hi Dea,

I looked on family search and it gives the date for the marriage as 1st June 1841 at Manchester Cathedral.

Don't worry - GR sends you to Ancestry and there are a lot of records missing from Ancestry on 1851 for this area - It is probably not on there!

Do you have the marriage cert for 1841?

The 1841 census was taken 6th June and they were married in April, May, June Quarter. I suspect they were not married at that time as I can find 2 possibles for John with his family.

Strangely, I cannot see Mary Ann at the moment.

I will keep looking.

Hi,

I did have a look but couldn't see them on the 1841 census but did find that they had only married about a week before the census was taken.

Do you know the names of Mary Anns parents at all.

Hi, I wondered if anyone had managed to find them in the 41 census?
I think GR is missing some info as I still cant find the 51 census info that others have kindly found for me.
Many thanks x

Yes Dea that's them in 61, however you have another family member that I don't have, Emma. On GR the Leech family run off the bottom of the page and I don't know how to get to the next page of the census. Thanks for that.
I now need to find them in 51,41 but still no joy, thanks for your help.

Thanks Virginia but I don't think that's him, he was definitely born Manchester, married Manchester and in 61 and 71 census still lived in Manchester (Salford). I'll keep on looking for them in 41, 51 x

ps. in 51 they should have a child James Leech born Salford Manchester in 1847, and Alice Leech born 1849.
