To all, I woud love it if you put the full name of whom you are looking for on the title line then the explaination underneath, as this will help us who are willing to look up or even have that name in our trees in replying.

Well after i first put this on the Trying to find thread it has improved - BUT we still get people putting trying to find on first line, yes we know that as it is the title of the thread, so please help us to help you by putting the Name on top line who you are looking for then the information you have already so we do not overlap with what you know already.

Yes I have been suggesting this as have many others. I think members realise after they don't get any responses. Suggestion to GR.......edit option for title, so that people can correct any mistakes, correct the dates, or even let people know the search is closed.
This would help eliminate the 'double' name listing that sometimes can't be helped.

We can already edit the title Wendy !

Well Roger, calling your thread "trying to find" isn't exactly a good demonstration of your point!

"Please put name, date and place in your subject line"

would maybe be more useful. Look at your thread in the board list -- really no clue what it's about! No newby wrapped up in their own search is going to read it. Not that any newby would if it were dressed up in purple polka dots and blinking.

You can edit the title, Michael. ;)

and I can edit my post -- who's Michael??

Dea, excuse my blonde moment, but can you tell me how.
Thnx.

If it is a thread which you have started - open the thread and go up to the very first post.

Click on 'edit' which I think is in bottom left corner of the first post and a box will open giving you the option to edit your post or your title.

Have a little look and let me know if you can't find it.

I have wondered why Roger posted this thread - not that the message isn't worthwhile - 'cos I've not seen any help given by him. Or have I missed all his helpful input on threads which I haven't accessed?

Glad it's not just me.
"Trying to Find Trying to Find " drives me mad.

We know you are trying to find ... that's the title of the board !!

Is it a competition Flick?

You could argue that Roger has helped by posting this thread I suppose.

Well I have never sen any thread by Flick helpig people so it cuts both wys, but i don't have time or patience to look at threads which says looking for trying to find - so I put this on to try and get people to post who they are looking for so if i see a thread with a name i am researching i can get in contract with the person concerned, but why are you getting at me everyone on this site has helped someone in the past one way or other.

But unfortunately you seem to think it is a competition I don't
