WILLIAM CURTIS had been married before to a Marjory Methven and
James, David, Robert & Elizabeth are the children of his first wife Marjory.

Yes he was a Shoe Maker

Do you know William's occupation......the one mentioned on the above census was a Shoemaker

Ann Curtis is shown as born 6/11/1838 Mains and Srathmartine Angus daughter of William Curtis and Isobel Fitchie so it would seem that SHE had not been married before as the maiden name is required for baptism or registration

The only Isabella & William Curtis I could find on the 1841 Census is as follows:

If Isabella & William got married in 1836 then it is possible that William or both of them had been married before & the oldest children on the Census are from a previous marriage.

I think Isabella & William had a daughter Ann b. 1838 which would be the Ann on the Census aged 2 years.
