Think the only way forward is to get the marriage certificate.

I would say it's Noah too but can't be sure.

I read a tip on here one day and they said they took certificates to their local Dr's surgery and got the receptonist to look at them as they are used to having to desipher bad handwriting!

It's just a thought!

Thanks. lt does seem like Noah l can't think of another name that would fit, but he was Irish and l'm not up on the more obscure Irish names ands their spellings

I saw Noah too, but only because I think the length of the name and that fact it isn't one of the more obvious names

the first letter doesn't look the same as any of the other inital letters on the page

In the column next to John Finn's name there is 2 names ? and Mary who are his parents
Then there is William Finn who is John's witness witness

l have a print out copy of an entry of a marriage in 1853 from the records office
The entry is faded but readable.
lt's the groom's father whose name l can't understand
Is there anyone who can help try and decipher it please.
l can email it to you
