Hello again
After a long haul I think I have the answer. Anyone looking for anyone from Weardale Co Durham should visit the Weardale Museum at Ireshopeburn. It is an amazing resource for family history in the dale.
I now think that my Phoebe Ann Hodgson was named Phoebe Hodgson but took up her mother's name Ann. She was born 21/3/1805. It is unlikely that she married George Halliday but lived as his wife for the rest of her life from 1836 at the latest.
Her father was John Hodgson and mother Ann Walton b.1775 Brotherlee. Ann Walton's father was Joseph Walton and mother was Mary Featherstone.

Thankyou very much again to all those who helped
best regards glynis
