can any one find please when george prophet born 1826 and mary ann lamminman also born 1826 were married.they had their first child jane prophet in 1843. mary ann had several children in this mariage until george died? she remarried a john downie b 1828 and had several more children starting in1863(couldnt read name of child)i would love to find out when george and mary ann married,george died, and when she remarried john downie. i have exhausted many avenues but have now come to a brick wall. anything would be very much appreciated christina. the area they were around was in the congleton, cheshire areas i think

So why isn't she with George in 1841? Or perhaps that's not the correct George which I posted? More than likely....................

In fact, pretty sure now that it isn't the right one.........

I would think his birth was earlier than 1826 - marrying in early 1841 would have made him 14

freewheel thanks for taking the time to help me. you do have the right george and yes he would only be 15 at the most, but could he have lied about his age? they sometimes did. anyway i will have to order the marr cert to confirm i think.the spelling of downie on later census is given as downie but it shows downing which explains why i couldnt find anything. on the 1841 census, i think george doesnt show because it kinda crosses over at the same time they married. but where is he in 1851, maybe went away outside the district to work, but by 1861 he im sure had died then.gosh this family tree is full of mysteries and takes hours to fill in all the gaps, but i like family history and theres never a dull moment as such.so back to write all this up and see whats next. thanks again freewheel
i do use ancestry sometimes and family search1881 but never to find what im looking for yet on gr i have found a lot and its easy to search.

freewheel something i just cant solve, if mary ann married john downie/downing in sep1865, how is it that on the 1861 census it shows them married with the youngest child william as 2 yrs. all children listed say stepchildren. this would indicate that they married earlier as i first thought, but how can the marriage entry then be explained in1865?
oh my head is sore trying to sort this, any other thoughts?

Have you tried to find George's death?

well freewheel my first success with free bmd georges death sep 1859. found it not 5 mins ago. so my instinct was right.because he doesnt appear on the 1861 census, died the year his last child was born! with mary ann being born in 1823 makes her age more respectful at 18 when she married.
