Morning Stephen.....

I looked for John and Caroline yesterday, I couldn't find them anywhere!!! So we don't have a birth year for him which is just sooo annoying!! However IF Mary Ann was his mother at least it should narrow baptisms down for him?

interestingly......the other witness of Johns marriage to Caroline is Mary Ann Bentley.......I have been told that Eliza and therefore Johns mother was called Mary Ann.........as husband John died fairly young I wonder if Mary Ann Lilley married a Mr Bentley???......a possibility

thanks Dee
thats interesting, it would be good to know that Eliza had a brother John.....it may make my search for her baptism easier!!!!!!!!!........both married at St Pancras Church too - they were definately from the area!!!!!!

Thinking outside the box;

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921
about John Lilley
Name: John Lilley >> occupation; Merchant
Age: Full Age
Estimated birth year: abt 1844
Spouse Name: Caroline Hughes
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 8 May 1844
Parish: Saint Pancras Parish Church
County: Middlesex
Borough: Camden
Father Name: John Lilley >>>>>>>>>>> Deceased
Spouse Father Name: Thomas Hughes

I'm pretty sure that 1 of the witnesses is the same as Eliza's; William Hold??s.

So it's not definate that Eliza and John are siblings........ however it is another lead to look into.

Hi,

Sorry Folks I think I started the ball rolling on this thread, likely Jonesey said I asked if this was the correct marriage,

Sorry Stephen I had to dash off quickly. I was hoping that the witnesses may have held a clue to her parentage.

thats what i had found glitterbaby but after researching it seems that JOhn and Mary Liley also had a daughter baptised at st leonards shoreditch called susan matilda liley........but susan matilda lileys marriage record was witnessed by JOHN AND Mary Liley - the marriage taking place way after 1845 but we know john had died by then - so it cannot be this family

Best match

Name: Elizabeth Lilly
Record Type: Baptism

County: London

Father is a weaver

thats her, on all census she has her place of birth st pancras c1824 but I have drawn a blank!!!!!!!!!! her father was John Liley and I have been told by others searching for her that her mother was called Mary......but nobody can find her baptism

As she married at St pancras I assumed she was baptised there. She is on her marriage cert and all census records, and her death cert as Eliza......

Her husband Joseph COLES was born bedfordshire , so that is the only reason I can think they were married at St pancras Church was because she was living and baptised in st pancras

Hi, I am a member of ancestry but i have had no luck.....i dont want to mix threads but an looking for Eliza Liley born c1824 st pancras, she married in st pancras church in 1845 but I cannot find her baptism. All census data has her place of birth as st pancras, so I have asssumed she was baptised there
