Born where? Born when?

Which one was your great-grandfather?

Can we assume they returned from Mexico?

Or was your mother born there?

What are you asking for? Please tell us..............

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 20 Jan 2010 22:18

I beg you to have a little patience.I put this thread out (as I'm sure you realise my first attempt )in the hope that the combination of the names and mexico may trigger some recognition. Here are the answers to your questions: william snr(my gt g'father)wasborn in lancashire about 1865.Don't know when he first went out to mexico or when he came back here but he returned there in Sep. 1915.Again we don't know when he returned here, but he took two of his sons out there in May 1919.My grandfather Frank was the third son born in 1899(his mother died at his birth). He never went to mexico. We don't know if they ever returned here.Hope this helps.

OK Rachel

a little learning experience for you then!

If you want help from us helpers ................ who, just incidentally are all members like yourself but with a little more experience, and also subscriptions to other sites that we use to find information .................. then you have to provide as much information as possible.

However, your chance of someone who knows personally about your family, just happening on this thread is pretty slim.

GR says they have something over 10 million members, that includes both free and paid. Free members can read these posts but cannot reply on the boards, nor can they send pm's (personal messages).

I do not know how many actual members there are ......................... if you stop paying your subscription, GR drops you down to the free level, but they do not delete your name .................. so there have to be many millions of dead or inactive members still included in the "count"

If we assume that maybe 1 million members are still active, and then we assume that maybe hundreds look at these boards, then you can see what your chances are!

I do not want to discourage you ........... because in my mind these Community Boards are the heart and soul of GR. This is where you get lots of help from those helpers I mentioned above. I'm sure that someone will be able to find information for you that may lead you to finding out more.

One thing you can do for yourself, is to enter the names into the Search Trees facility up at the top, to see if anyone has the same names in their trees. Then you can contact that tree owner, and see what they know.

it really does begin to appear to be the correct family?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Jan 2010 22:35

I am thinking that that 1901 family is the correct one ......................

Rachel, how do you know that Frank's mother died when he was born??

Do you have her death certificate?

If it is "family lore", then it is possible that the story has got a little twisted over time .............. and that she didn't die when he was born but a couple of years or so later.
