I am looking for my gr.grandfather Henry Moore b. c 1840 in Ireland according to the 1881 scottish census.
I cannot find him before 1881, according to his marriage certificate in 1869 he was a steamboat stoker.
He had 2 sons both born before he married, one Henry Moore b.1859 and the 2nd Duncan b.1865 , they are both living with their mother Margaret Stewart in 1871 but no sign of their father Henry.
Would there be a census for the steamboat Kinsale in 1861 and 1871 ?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Jean
He is on the 1881 scottish census living in Glasgow with his family.

I imagine if he was sailing at the time there would be no records. If they were berthed in port the census would have been taken. I may be wrong but I'm sure I will be corrected if I am!

I have looked for the steamship Kinsale but can't find out where it would have sailed from or where to.
On Henry's marriage certificate in 1869 it shows his address as The Steamship Kinsale of Glasgow.
