I searched FreeBMD for all events for surname BARB*NT (if French, the pronunciation might lead to different vowels in English) |

I wonder if there is a connection to this family group?? Has the surname been anglicised(sic)? |

It does seem to be a Scottish or French/Italian Surname. |

My Husband's Great Uncle Wilfred Wright, born 1899 in Swineshead near Boston Lincolnshire, married Eugenie Maria Aimee Barbont in Swineshead Parish Church in 1920. I have a copy of the Marriage certificate and it's 100% the right Wilfred, son of Charles Wright. Eugenie was a Daughter of Charles Augustin Barbont, a Coal Merchant of Swineshead. I have been unable to find any more information about Eugenie or her Father, the name sounds French to me The witnesses were both from the Wright family. |
