Thanks, on the marriage cert it definatley says Joseph and occupation is engineer which would fit with Job's occupation.

I checked my marriage index's on cd and also found the marriage to Elizabeth Cousins. That was the only marriage for a Job Flook 1813 - 1837 for Bristol.

I have a gut feeling Joseph is Job. One of the witnesses William Malpowder is also a witness on another cert I have for another branch of my family.

On the marriage cert Sarah was living at (it looks something like Redcrop Street. On the 1861 census the other Sarah and her family are living at Grosvenor Place and on the same sheet it has Red**** Street

Looking at familysearch there is a marriage entered as Job Flook to Elizabeth Cousins 10 Oct 1830 St James Bristol. Know it isn't 100% but it does look like a possibility of a Job/Elizabeth.-JLe

Just a quick thought.

Have you checked the original documents? Joseph is sometimes recorded as Jos. and could easily be misread as Job.

Hi Marcelle

Jonesey has an excellent thread on searching the 1911:
www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1160992

Also, if you have a problem with doing a search with keyword on this site, and you just get the whirly thing or egg timer, hit reload page or refresh (maybe more than once!)

How do you bring a family up together in 1911?

I found an Elsie in 1911 but can't find out who is in her household. I can't locate her in 1901 either

Elsie was born in 1888 in Bristol. She was the daughter of Sarah

Thanks

Actually, there's 3 Sarah's in 1911 since Nellie Sarah counts as a Sarah.
However, she's the only Nellie, so we have:

HOUSEHOLD BATH PHILIP M 1849 62 Bristol Gloucestershire
HOUSEHOLD BATH SARAH F 1847 64 Bristol Gloucestershire
HOUSEHOLD BATH CHARLES EDWARD M 1876 35 Bristol Gloucestershire

Thanks for all your input. I did look at the Job family and I think in 1861 Sarah is a weaver which would tie in with her in later census being a cotton spinner.

Will order the marriage certificate.

That's my tree up the spout!! serves me right. I should have checked it out properly and not followed others!! Have gone back to 1754ish with the Flooks as well. I must have the wrong family for the paper to say Sarah, only child.

Many thanks again

Marcelle

PS I wonder if you know how to bring a family up together when searching the 1911 census? I have found a Sarah Bath and an Elsie Bath abt 1888 in 1911 but there are loads of other Bath's and I am not sure if you can bring the family up together on a free search. I am sure I read yesterday a man's guide to doing it but my advanced search will not work when I put in 1911 census. I reported it to GR a week ago and still not fixed.

Sarah would only be 4 when father died. Perhaps she didn't know his name & 'copied' William's father name Joseph or perhaps minister took name down wrong and input Jospeh twice in error.

Best get a copy of marriage cert as witness names may tie in with siblings.

Thanks Margaret

So it looks like Jospeh was definatley Sarah's dad. Its just the newspaper report 1860 stating Sarah Ann, only child of Joseph Flook. But my Sarah married in 1868. I can't find any other Sarah's with a dad Joseph before 1868

Thanks for looking though

Hi I wonder if I could just run this by you.

I have Henry Bath born 29 July 1878 at Ayers Lane, St Judes Bristol. On birth cert father is William Bath and mother is Sarah Bath formerly Sarah Flook.

Now on Ancestry there is this marrige for William Bath and Sarah Flook.

All was going really well and I have been searching and found Joseph living in Paulton, Somerset in 861 (which would tie in with the will of his father Moses, or so I thought!)

I could not locate Sarah in 1861 before her marriage to William Bath. I was then searching through the newspapers and found an obituary for Sarah Ann Flook, 1860 only daughter of Joseph Flook of Paulton!

This has blown my research out of the water if this Sarah and Joseph are not mine it means I am totally wrong!

I am going to order the marriage cert for Sarah & William and see what it says about her dad but not sure which birth cert to go for. Any advice?

Thanks

Marcelle

MARRIAGE CERT has arrived today and father is noted as Joseph Flook, occupation an Engineer which would fit with Job Flook's occupation. I have checked all the other Sarah Flook's and there is one born in 1843 with dad Henry who is an engine fitter. Witnesses don't help as they are a William Moore and William Malpowder.

Do you think or would you take a stabb a Job Flook being Joseph??

Any advice/opinions most welcome

Marcelle
