My great grandma Cecilia Roberts was born in 1853 to George Roberts and Phillis Roberts nee Eatoft. They lived in Hungate St Martin Lincoln. George was a Groom. Not sure where he worked as a groom. So any light that can be shed on this family and in particularly Phillis Eatoft would be fantastic. As I can't find her on any census.

Strange because the address is Hungate

Thanks Glitter Baby and Liver Bird1. Cecilia Roberts married John Gadsby in the Parish of St Nicholas in Lincoln. Her father was called George Roberts. On Cecilia's birth cert it deffinately says George not John. Occupation is Groom.

In the 1861 for the same family there is a daughter called Julia born 1853. There is no birth registration for Julia. All of the other children were registered at the appropriate time so could Julia be Cecilia. She doesn't appear on any later census as Julia so I'm thinking that the enumerator could have made a mistake. As for John being George it could well be correct. He could have been named George and married under that name but was called John by Family. Stranger things have happened.

Joseph Eato 1816 on 1841 census married hannah Wade 1864 in 1861 there is a george Roberts born 1849 with them,I see Phillis had son George in 1848 so this could be another connection to the EATO name.
