Find Ancestors

Hi Guys

I'm trying to find the marrage of Edward Moorhead and Susanna (Hanna) Morrison. I think they were married around the Carlisle area!

Edward Moorhead c ??/12/1857 in Carlisle& Susanna c1861 in Carlisle.

These are the first relitives that i have came across in England and so far i do not know how to search on any England BDMs websites. Any help on this would be greatfully accepted.

Cheers guys. I just had a look at the free BDM.org site. I'm trying to understand it. Does this only give you the month and year they were married?

I have them on all the censuses,But one thing is confusing me,I get to the 1881 Census and there is someone calld lucy A. I think that there are two familys living there at the same time. My Edward's wife is called Susanna Known as Hanna. Do you thing that the lucy A could be a transcripton error?

I have another question! Could anyone tell me how i can trace a Birth for Susana? I got her YOB from the Census,whitch isnt always correct. i beleive she was born about 1861 in Carlisle.

Same site - but be aware that in England/wales there was no penalty for not registering births until 1875

Also - try the IGI on www.familysearch.org for a possible baptism

when you look at freebmd it gives the qtr that the event took place and the year

looking for a marriage of an Edward Moorhead between 1871 & 1881 gives this

If that death for Suzanna Moorhead is right & matches the marriage she was only 13 when she married!

are you sure she was actually called Suzannah - if she was known as Hanna this is often another form of Ann

Yeah her name was suzana, i got the info from my Great Grandfathers Birth cert Joseph Moorhead b1877 in Kendal, Westmorland.

I'm just finding it really hard to get my head around the English transcripts.

With Ref to the 1881 maybe the person taking the census miss understood what Edward said, maybe he was saying Suzy & it thought he said Lucy

I suppose it could be possible. My problem is that i have been using Scotlands people for the last Five months and i'm totaly lost when it comes to trying to find BMDs in England.

The Hannah born Gilcrux posted by Freewheel for 1871 (who is also on the IGI) cant be the right one as she is still single throught o 1901
