Looking for birth of Frederick Thompson b c1920 Lancashire. He married Olive Deville i think--got that off free bmd--1945. They had a son in 1947 and she died around 1949 but can't find a date for that either.
Other info i have is Frederick's father was Frederick as well b c1900 married to Bessie.
They all seem to hail from the Scunthorpe area.
Any info would be most welcome.

lancashireAnn Report 14 Dec 2009 16:44

not seen the other thread but freebmd & lancs bmd have Olive's surname as Dezille not Deville

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1945
THOMPSON Frederick William
DEZILLE Olive
Lancaster, St Mary

have replied on your other post as well

you say "They all seem to hail from the Scunthorpe area."

so am slightly confused as to whether you have the right family as Scunthorpe is in Lincolnshire not Lancs as you state in your other post.

To Lancashirann
I am doing this for a friend and giving the info i got from him. Getting very confusing.
No his mother was definitely Olive and father Frederick and by going by the freebmd her surname is Dezille and they married in 1945. My friend was born in 1947-Scunthorpe and his mother died around 1949 but cant find when.
Think the confusion is they lived in Scunthorpe and N Lincolnshire at different times of course.
Also Frederick went onto marry someone else after her death but not sure who as she was a widow, first names Vera Heather
It is like finding your way through a spiders web.

jenny

thanks Jenny

now I've got that clear I will continue looking in lancs. I will use your other thread though and it is probably better if you delete this one so that people do not duplicate searches

Hi Jenny,

looks like Vera's death;

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005
about Vera Heather Thompson
Name: Vera Heather Thompson
Birth Date: 1 Oct 1929
Death Registration Month/Year: Dec 2004
Age at death (estimated): 75
Registration district: North Lincolnshire
Inferred County: Lincolnshire
Register number: A57B
District and Subdistrict: 554/1A
Entry number: 231

I wondered about this birth;

Surname First name(s) Mother District Vol Page
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Births Dec 1929 (>99%)
---------------
Wilson Vera H Spencer Fylde 8e 771

Looks like this lady married in 1952 to Kenneth Evans in Flyde (Lancs), but I can't see a marriage to Frederick Thompson.

Have you considered this death, age is out slightly.......... however the info is only as good as the person who registered the death knew;

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005
about Olive Thompson
Name: Olive Thompson
Death Registration Month/Year: 1950
Age at death (estimated): 28

I think (though still to be confirmed by Jennifer) that it is not Olive Dezille we are looking for but Olive Barley who married a Frederick Thompson in Scunthorpe 1946.
NOT Lancashire

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 15 Dec 2009 16:41

birth which would fit with that Olive death

Births Sep 1921 (>99%)
Barley Olive Welch Glanford B. 7a 1334

Scunthorpe was in Glanford Brigg registration district in 1921

Thank you both Dee and Lancashireann. you have both been very helpful.
Sorry i did not get back to you yesterday only computer is playing up.
First, yes i think we can rule out the surname Dezille.
The Vera Heather Thompson Birth and Death look good.
Olive Barley m Frederick Thompson Scunthorpe 1946 looks very good as well and fits in with my friends birth in 1947 also the death of Olive 1950
Thanks for putting up with me

Hi Jenny,

If we go with the Barley surname what about this marriage;

England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005
about Olive Barley
Name: Olive Barley
Spouse Surname: Thompson
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1946
Registration district: Scunthorpe
Registration county (inferred): Lincolnshire
Volume Number: 7a
Page Number: 2291
Find Spouse: Frederick Thompson

Now the maiden name for Olive is Turner or Barley, implying that Olive had been married to Mr Turner previously??

England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005
about Olive Barley
Name: Olive Barley
Spouse Surname: Turner
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1939
Registration district: Scunthorpe
Registration county (inferred): Lincolnshire
Volume Number: 7a
Page Number: 2941
Find Spouse:Horace Turner

Does your friend have an elder brother Garry P Turner born 1940??? EDIT>>>>>>>>> see a couple of posts below.

I really think you may have to order some certificates now if you want to progress........ it would be soooo easy to go off down the wrong track.

why did you delete your Olive thread Jennifer. I thought I had put information on there which was relevant to both threads. If there was anything useful please could you add it to this thread so the work does not have to be duplicated.

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 17 Dec 2009 17:31

Sorry again lancashireann, i seem to have got it wrong again. I made notes from that thread and thought by deleting it that it would be best to just keep one going!!!
Dee, My friend Stuart had no siblings and knows nothing about his mother except she died around 1950 and we have established that.
The other marriages you mentioned i presume one lot are her parents but as you say it would be best if he sends for some certificates now.
Another thing we can't find are his fathers birth records--6 jun 1920/21 Rochdale Whitworth Lancs and his death Dec 31st 1990 Scunthorpe. He just had no certificates at all, must have been with the fathers second wife.
Thanks again

Hi Jenny

You are right - it is better just to have one thread. Sorry should have phrased my post better. Just wondered if any of the info on there would be useful on this thread.

Can't find a birth for a Frederick Thompson in those years in either Rochdale or Scunthorpe. There is one in Haslingden which I think is about 10 miles from Rochdale

BatMansDaughter Report 17 Dec 2009 18:45

Hi Jenny,

Looks like his death reg;

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005

Death Registration Month/Year: Jan 1991
Age at death (estimated): 70

Remember that because he died in Dec 1990, his death wouldn't be registered until the year after.
