ROBERT SMITH BORN KIRKBY IRELETH 1893

I'm trying to find decendants or more information about Robert Smith, who lived in Grange over Sands until his death in 1965. Also, I think his wife was Gladys Mary Smith who died in 1970.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I would firstly recommend getting their death certificates and see what other information is on them.

Secondly have you tried the tree's here on GR and those on Ancestry and Rootweb etc?

When was Robert and his wife born and where? This is basic info you will need, do you have their marriage cert? this will give you an idea of when they were born and whom their fathers were, again this will help you massively.

Genealogy is not guesswork and should always be backed up with certs as best as possible.

Can you please come back to us with ages at death and the details contained upon their marriage cert.

Hi Tracey,
Thanks for coming back to me. I'm pretty new to this and the information I have is sketchy.

I've found a tree on GR containing the same Robert Smith, and have requested further info & access but not heard back yet.

All I know at the moment, is that Robert was born in Kirkby Ireleth (Lancashire at the time) in quarter 1 of 1893, he was on the 1901 census then on the 1911 census lived in Broughton. He was buried in Grange over Sands on 19th March 1965, aged 72.

I only found what I think is his wife from the parish books, but haven't managed to find a marriage certificate yet. The most likely one's birth doesn't agree unless she was married twice. Am waiting for the local authority to come back to me with burial/grave records which should have some more information.

I'm trying to go forward to his decendants, but realise I need the past to help the search so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I need to check electoral rolls, but Grange was part of Lancashire (records in Preston) and then Cumbria (records in Kendal) but between the 2 authorities I think some have disappeared.

Any info GREATLY appreciated!
