During my searches I have often found 2 entries for the same year, and it is usually because the person has moved and re-registered in their new location but forgotten to have their name removed from the old address.

But at least we know approx. when they moved.

wow that is weird - my mum was BORN in Raymond St Vic Park! this is hubby's mum's side but the parallels are bizarre!

thanks Julie, this is all great info and adds credence to the theory of Michaal's death in 1907 (I assume you did not find him in later censuses?). Wonder why there were 2 in 1906 - maybe he changed his address during the year?

It's funny.
I checked what Close family was in Collie in the 1930's and found John & Catherine, then found their marriage in 1920 so discounted them.
Did not think of a second marriage.

No Ellen Francis. ??

Day Dawn was a significant mining town and mine in the Mid West/upper Murchison region of Western Australia just south of Cue ( which is about 100kms south of Meekatharra)

This is very interesting. How funny that Margaret was living in Kojonup, as I myself lived there for a while in my teens! (and lived in Belmont as a child!)

If you are willing and able to check for the Close family in the electorial rolls Julie that would be great!

They were John Hoskin CLOSE and Nellie Frances Madeline nee McMAHON. They married in NSW in 1908 and were in WA by 1913. Nellie died in 1918 (of TB) and John remarried in 1920 to Catherine NORTON. I have John's parents etc.

Nellie was previously married to Michael CURRAN in Collie in WA in 1902. It is a bit of a mystery why she went to NSW and then returned. I suspect Michael died in a mining accident in Meekatharra in 1907, so if you can see him in the electoral rolls as a miner up there c1903 it may help shed some light! Nellie and Michael had 2 children, Ellen (died as a baby) and John Francis (1905-1998).

Hoping to find some connections to William PHEASE b. c1851 Montrose Scotland or descendants. He married Lucy Jane SOUTHEY in Victoria Australia in 1877 and had a son named William Thos (1885 Footscray) and daughter Margaret Helena (1887 Footscray).

The family settled in Western Australia by 1912.

Wm's son James married my husband's grandmother's sister (Lillian CLOSE) in 1936. Both died in Collie WA.

I have bdm's etc just hoping to find anyone who might know more about the connections with the CLOSE family in the Collie area of WA. Seems to be very little about the Phease family online.
