Just one other possibility to consider - in my tree I have at least two women who, when widowed, pretty quickly married their husband's brother. |

I've sat for hours trying to work this out, puzzling about not finding marriage for Ada, all the males mentioned seem to have the right surname - Walker, sounds like my great nan was a bit of 'girl' if you know what i mean!!! |

Another thought, if Elizabeth's father died when she was very young, just after the 1901 census was taken, say....would it be feasible that she didn't know his first name. |

Blossom in Essex - you are thinking along the same lines as me! That's why I asked if Christie was sure she has the right birth cert (which she does, having the original). |

I know this is a daft question, but are you sure it's the right marriage cert? Do you know that she married Richard Ferris? |

Hi All, I'm having terrible trouble trying to unravel who my nan's father was. My nan Elizabeth Ann Walker born 21/7/1896 n west ham. Her birth cert states mother: Ada Walker (formely Horsted), father Walter Walker. Her mariage cert of 1920 states father as James Albert Walker (deceased) proffession Fishmonger. I can't find the marriage of Ada & Walter. Any help would be appreciated as im at a standstill. |
