Hi Pauline, I'm looking for Edward's birth but I would also like to find him on the 1891 census so I can trace the family. I think he might have been born in 1884 not 1882 as I've just found an Edward William in Kington
Sept 6a 557. Looks like I'll have to get yet another cert. to see if this is him. Thanks for your interest. Sue

Finally got Edward's marriage cert and his father's name is John Jones, a farm labourer and at that time they were living in Rhoose (1903) I have been looking for the family on 1891 and 1901 census but had no luck so far. Any help would be much appreciated. Sue

Thanks Pauline. I'll have a check on that. He was known to the family as Bill which is why I was thrown down the wrong line but it gives me somewhere else to go.
I'm trying to find out where he was buried so we ( me and my sons ) can pay our respects next time we go to Wales. His children were brought up in Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan and they thought he died sometime early 1950's. All the children are now dead so I can't get anymore information on him. I have a photo of him and Margretta and my middle son is the image of him. Thanks again Sue

I've found an Edward Jones on 1901 census and it shows him as a soldier in Hampshire aged 19 years. Gives birthplace as knighton, Radnorshire which is very close to Presteigne. Still searching 1891 but no luck so far.

No not yet. I've just received Margretta's death cert. and that confirmed his proper name was Edward William so I shall now send for the marriage cert to check his fathers name. Thanks for the suggestion.Sue

Help needed please to find any trace of my late husband's grandad Edward William Jones born c1881 Knill Bridge, Presteigne, Radnorshire. For the past 5 years we believed he was William Edward b 1880 in Llanvetherine but have lately found out his real name and place of birth on 1911 census. His wife's name was Margretta Rees and they married in 1903 in Cardiff. I have been trying to find him on 1891 and 1901 census but had no luck. Fresh eyes would be appreciated. Thanks.
