Beverly.
You said Violet Taylor was living with her aunt Bessie Middleton. I wonder where she is in 1911 because she is not with Bessie.

Not unless she is called Violet Rose Taylor and showing as Rose Taylor granddaughter on the census. The place of birth Birmingham looks right

Do you know when she was born?

I can find a Rosie Taylor born 1907 Birmingham and a Violet Taylor 1907 Birmingham.

Hi Quinsgran, thanks for the info, are all these Taylors living with the Middletons in 1911?? Going back to Arthur, my Granddad, I've just been thinking about this and do you think it would have been him living with Edwin (his Uncle) as the ages don't tally? :)

Beverly.

Look for Jonesys thread on how to search the 1911 census for free. You can do a lot this way to eliminate unlikely names

You still have to pay to access full information however.

£6 95 gets you 60 credits. It costs 10 credits to view the transcript which gives the usual details place of birth etc. Also it tells you how long the couple have been married.

30 credits allows you to view the census image.
This is exciting because its written in the householders own hand (assuming they could write). It also gives how many children were born to the couple and how many still alive.

Once you have paid you can go back and view the transcript or image anytime

You could look for Violet Taylor and using the advanced search option you can look for who was living with her starting with surnames names beginning with. You can then put M and hopefully find her with Bessie Middleton.

When doing searches I always use advanced search which has name variants option. This picks up mistranscriptions

Yes, I have his birth cert but not to hand, my Granddad was born on the 14th October 1909 and at the time, his father worked for the Railways. I think they lived at No. 5 Landsdowne Place, Aston :)

Beverly Report 28 Oct 2009 22:10

Beverly

Beverly Report 28 Oct 2009 22:08

Oooh this is exciting!! Do you think the Arthur (Nephew) could be my Granddad?? His Mum died when giving birth to him and then as far as I know, was estranged from his Dad, his Sister, Violet Taylor went to live with another aunt , called Bessie Middleton, who was his Dad's Sister, could it be that they all moved back from Aston to Banbury but siblings separated, what are your thoughts???

Hi all, sorry as I haven't been on here for years but have done extensive research and have been waiting until the 1911 census to be available. Am I right in thinking it's accessible and if so, are you able to advise the best resource to use? I am looking for a George Edward Taylor who was born c1880's. Thanks
