Ive since received Arthur Jones birth certificate which has confirmed that it is in fact the family with George Jones(Grandfather) and that the daughter Alice ( in the 1901 and 1871 census) is in fact his mother and that he was illegitimate as we suspected as no father is listed on his birth certificate. There is no record of Alice in the 1911 census which leads me to believe that he was left in the care of his grandfather. Cant seem to trace George Jones family , born 1846 abt, in Ardwick, Manchester. Can any one locate him in the 1861 census.

The witnesses on the marriage cert. might provide some clues.

Rose
Ive looked on the 1911 census and found 2 possibilities. First family was an arthur jones living with an elderly George Jones aged 70, who also had an Arthur Latham (grandson), living with him and a nephew Joseph Dooley,a soldier aged 26.
The second family was a widower aged 41, born in New York, with 6 children to his name, Arthur the youngest.
I have drawn a blank at both families. The second family seems unlikely. Any clues as to where to go from here?

Thanks Amber,
I already have those two pieces of information but that is all. Ive ordered his birth certificate from G.R O but no guarantee that it will have his parents listed. Is a marriage certificate more reliable??

Hi, Im trying to locate the parents and family of Arthur Jones, born jan 15th, 1902 in Ardwick, Chorlton, Manchester. He was thought to be illegitimate and raised by an uncle, although we cant be certain of this. He married Hilda Owen in 1924 and had 2 children, Arthur and Beryl. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
