i am searching for one James Foster, born 1879 and according to the 1911 census he was born in 'Start /Sturt Green' London. I have written to FHS in a couple of places around London, but know one has heard of Start Green or Sturt Green. It is not on Google or any of the maps I've looked at. I would be grateful for any help. |

Are you sure its London? There is a village called Sturt just outside Devizes in Wiltshire. On IGI I have also seen it called Start. |

I've received the birth certificate of a James Foster, born in Marylebone Workhouse in 1879, his father was a House painter. The informant was Martha Foster, Mother, of 49 Mothers Sun Cottages, James Street, Lisson Grove. There is no mention of Strart/Sturt Green. On James Jnr's Marriage certificate, his father was a Mason?. |
