Has anyone any information about the above person? I think this could be my grandfather who was killed during world war one. We dont have much information about him although we think we have narrowed it down to this person based on the fact that he is the only Michael Thompson killed in the war that was in a local regiment. (S Lancs) I have only just joined the site and have no idea how to go about finding out more info on people so any help would be great

Thanks

Ray

You can't assume that he joined a "local"regiment. The Michael Thompson you mention, according to Soldiers Died in the Great War, was born in Eccleston. His Commonwealth War Graves entry doesn't give any address or next of kin information.

Do you know the name of your grandmother and when and if they married? You should be able to g et this information from one of your parents birth certificate (whichever one of your parents was the child of Michael Thompson).
