I cannot locate this family on 1851 census. This is what I have on 1841 Census - living Back Lane, Newcastle on Tyne, William Storey cattle ealer, Mary 45 wife, John 15 son cabinet maker, Mary 15 aur, Magdalene 10 dau and Mark 5 son. Can anyone help? maybe I should be trying an alternative surname but what ? |

Have you tried just using Sto* as the surname? |

No joy I'm afraid and I also tried *orey with christian name and year of birth (abt 1836) but it said too many results. I'm well and truly stuck ! |

Did Magdalene perhaps marry Charles Maxwell? |

Thank you everyone - this is all very helpful. Unfortunately the 1841 census only indicates county of birth which is why I id not know where each indiviual was born. All I ha to go on was that they live Newcastle. I shall break for a cup of coffee now and hope to proceed later. |

T in MIddlesex - it's got me scratching my head too !! Perhaps Mark aged 76 is my original William's father ?? Coul both Mark an William be family names carried down through the generations? I'll need to investigate this. Many thanks. |

I believe that Mark Story on the 1851 census is 16 not 76. I think the enumerator put a stroke across it making the 1 look like a 7. This 7 is nothing like the 7 in William's age. |

I wonder if this might be your William, accounting for his naming his daughter Magdalene after his mother? |
