This gentleman Edward Carling married a Nora Beaumont in 1922 in Sunderland. The conundrum is, who is the father of Edward, is it Patrick Carling 1876 or Edward Carling 1858. Patrick and Edward are brothers, so the two Edwards are cousins, but which one is married to Nora. Any suggestions anyone. Thanks. |

Thanks for your reply, and I appreciate what you are suggesting, but did you know Charlie Chapline fathered a child when he was in his 80's. |

Yes, this is both the families, the two heads of families are brothers, but it still does not confirm which son married Nora Beaumont 1922. How can I fast forward to 1922 to determine which cousin married Nora. |

Order the marriage certificate. It will give the age and father's name of the Edward in question. |

Perhaps I am not making myself clear. Patrick had a son called Edward, and Edward had a son called Edward. Patrick and Edward are brothers, so the two sons of the brothers are cousins. They were born within a year of each other. I have a marriage for one of them, whichever Edward would have been approx 22 years old. I appreciate that the only true way would be to order the marriage lines, I wondered if any knew of the family so it would give me an instant answer. |

Well it is a distinct possibility. Nora's father was indeed called Thomas, and one of the Edward's father was called Edward. But Nora's husband was called Edward too. Thank you for the additional info on the children when I get the marriage, I will then have the kids to add to the tree. Thanks. |

Thank you again, I seem to have been thrown a bum steer with the former birthdate. I am still new to this game, I know how to check through the census, but I have no access to the 1881 census, other than taking a chance with the IGI. You have given me a few possible leads, and that will take me in another direction, and give me something else to think about. Cheers. |

Once again thank you. I must admit I have been relying on others that the info they give me is true. But I guess it is sometimes like Chinese Whispers, it gets diluted along the way. I appreciate all your help and suggestions, and will indeed try the freeBMD. Best wishes |
