Find Ancestors

Hi I am trying to find Miles Clayton b Accrington Lancs 1841 . I have been looking for him and on ancestry it as appeared there is a Miles Clayton Date of Trial 19 10 1863 sentence imprisonment . I wonder if anyone as acess to this . It would be much appreciated . I have only found him in the 1861 census in Accrington . Thanks for ant help

It reads Larceny from person, penal servitude of 4 years. At least he wasn't whipped or fined!!

The 'Durken' surname again for daughter Ann (Clayton).

She is down as being married in 1871 and a lodger. Betty is a servant.

Thanks everyone the 1861 refg is right . also the adress of edmund st is right i have found anns marriage to james birtwell in 1881 and she is living at edmund st . Where do the crabtrees come in did jane remarry

Susan, looks like Jane re-married William Crabtree in 1868 using the name Jane Durkine.

She married Miles 'Darken' in 1860 - not sure where the surname 'Clayton' comes into things, as their daughter was born Clayton, but Ann appears on the 1871 census with her mother Jane Crabtree as Annie Durken.

Might be a good idea to get the marriage certificate of Miles 'Darken' and Jane Howarth.

Unless anyone else sees things differently, I think Miles Clayton and Miles 'Darken' are one and the same ! ?????

If you see Choccy's first reply he has a Jane Durkine marrying a William Crabtree. In the 1871 census there is an Annie Durken living with Jane Crabtree. Not sure where the name Durkine/en comes from but these do appear to be your people.
Have you a birth for Miles Clayton? Could he possibly have changed his name?

Thank you both . I only have a birth for miles from the census . On the register from St Johns in Accrington it gives anns name as clayton fathers name miles clayton . this is in 1881 they are living in edmund st the same as you found on the 1881 census as jane is down as crabtree,. I think he must have gone under another name or she canged hers if he was a bad lot . Thank you both once again . It takes a while for it all to sink in sometimes
