trying to find my husbands step grand father harry owen born around 1849 had a daughter called nellie owen who married a walter essam around 1902 he died and in 1921 she married my husbands grand father ernest arthur embrough. can any one help .

These people in Leicester in 1901 (and 1891) have to be related, but that Arthur is 10 years too old to be Ernest Arthur:

I have found ernest embrough birth and his marriage in 1921 but i do belive he married a kate matilda jones in 1903 but i dont seem to be able to find this he does not seem to be in any of the census . i think around this time he may have been living in chetenham.

Where does your belief about the Jones marriage come from, Geoffrey?

It doesn't seem to be at FreeBMD.


In any event, it seems that to go farther you need his marriage and/or birth certificate -- preferably the birth cert which will give both parents' names, but you'd need the marriage certificate to match the father's name.

I wondered about daughter Charlotte, who married in 1894, e.g. Could have had Ernest before marrying. But that doesn't account for him in 1891.

There's no male Embrough marriage anytime reasonable before 1886 (and I've tried wildcard searches ...).


Nothing for it but to get the certificates, I think!
