H Jean - Whirley was away for a while. When she got back on Oct 20, she posted in her thread --

"Please PM (private message) me with your requests thanks.
if there is anyone I haven't replied to, please resend. Thank you."

So I'd advise that first - go back to her thread, click on her name, and send her the message again.

Also send her the address you have from the death certificate and she can look up who the residents there are now.

Jean Report 27 Oct 2009 02:53

Hello again. I have done as suggested and have tried to get in touch with Whirley. She has not answered me. Also I have applied and received William Earlys marriage and death certificates. On the death cert his daughter is named with an address whuch I have tried to find on the phonebook but have not had any luck. Can you help me if I give you the details?
With Thanks, Jean.

Look in the address line up above these messages. You will see the text that starts out

http://

and ends

=1177579&px=1

Change that last part to

=1133232

and hit ENTER on your keyboard.

That will take you to Whirley's thread.

Click on her name to send her a private message with the info I sent you and ask for a lookup.

(Ah - I see some people I have sent to the thread have been adding posts to it instead of sending private messages as Whirley requests. I hope she sees them ...)

BUT -- Whirley as away for a bit. I'm not sure how long for. Give her til the weekend and then send the message, maybe.

Jean Report 6 Oct 2009 03:08

Hello again,
Sorry I must seemsilly to you but am still unable to get in touch with Whirley. It comes back with a notice that says," invalid thread" or thread may be closed. I dont know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks, Jean.

Hi, Janey,

Sorry, I have been away for a while to visit my daughter and grandson. I will have to pick up on the information again and do as you have suggested.
I hope your eye surgery was successful.
Jean.

Jean, you saw the death reference Julie posted for the person who is probably your William Alfred Early:

England & Wales, Death Index: 1984-2005 about William Alfred Early
Name: William Alfred Early
Birth Date: 15 Sep 1913
Death Registration Month/Year: Jun 2000
Age at death (estimated): 86
Registration district: Henley
Inferred County: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire
Register number: 33B
District and Subdistrict: 7011
Entry number: 3

The idea is that you should obtain that death certificate, because it might contain the name of a family member as the informant of death.

It would also give you an exact date and place of death. That information could help you find a published obituary in local newspaper archives, e.g. at a local public library, or with the help of someone at the newspaper. An obituary would name family members, including children, if any.

I recommend this all the time, and I never know whether anyone follows up on it ... or just keeps hoping a family member will fall into their lap, or someone else will do the work to find one. It is absolutely what I would do if I were looking for information about the family of someone who is deceased!

Hi Jean.

I did send you the details of the births of Dorothy Early Keeble's children, and what seemed to be pretty certainly the marriage of her daughter.

I don't know whether that was who you searched for at 192.com.

I was in a bit of a rush as I was having eye surgery the next day, so I didn't do the 192.com search. I've done it now, and found that couple (Dorothy's daughter and her husband) on the electoral roll 2002-2006, and sent you the bare bones reference. I've also sent you the link for Whirley's thread where you can ask her to look up the details for you:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1133232

Once you have the address and know what county they're in, you can look for a more recent listing at BT on line, if the electoral roll details are out of date:

Firstly you should buy the marriage certificate to make sure this is 'your' William...

The death certificate may also give you extra info.

England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005 about William A Early
Name: William A Early
Spouse Surname: Dyer
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1936
Registration district: Southwark
Registration county (inferred): Surrey
Volume Number: 1d
Page Number: 94

Can not see births for any children

Jean Report 22 Sep 2009 08:53

I do not seem to be having any luck. I paid for credits on192.com and did other searches but am frustated because I cannot seem to get anywhere.
Can you help? Maybe if I try to trace descendants of the son of Edith and Alfed Early, being William Early .He died in 2000 and I think he might have married a Margery Dyer??
Hoping I,m not asking too much, Jean.

Aha. Somebody's mistranscribed.

Marriages Mar 1909
EARLY Alfred Southwark 1d 113
> 113 should be 118, it seems

Marriages Mar 1909
JANSEN Edith Matilda Southwark 1d 118

Just for our ref, to clarify the situation.

BT on line is British Telecom - it's the link I copied for you in my message where you can search for telephone numbers/addresses for the names I sent.

Jean Report 16 Sep 2009 08:11

Thankyou so much for all your help and expertise. I will study what you have given me and make some sense of it. I am not sure what is referred to as BTcould you explain please.
I would dearly love to make contact with living relatives if I can.I dont know if this is possible.
My husbands( who I lost to Leukemia last year),father was brother to Edith Matilda Jansen who married Alfred Early.I do have a copy of the marriage cert 1909 and you have found children and marriages of their decendants.
Sadly as you have discovered for me some have died.
I now need to find a way to make contact if possible.
Thanks again, Jean.

Clever clogs. Figgered as much. ;)

-- Oh, but marriage?

Have PMed the marriage and children (and possible child's marriage) for Dorothy, and invited Jean back to the thread.

I forgot to say, Jean - please always reply in the thread by clicking the purple REPLY button up at the top, not by clicking a name and sending a private message. (I sent that info by PM because it's personal info about living people.)

Actually, they're likely deceased ...

Name: Dorothy J Early
Spouse Surname: Keeble
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1942
Registration district: Southwark
Registration county (inferred): Surrey
Volume Number: 1d
Page Number: 67

Ancestry has messed something up and isn't giving the husband's name ...

George W Keeble -- spouse's name is spelled "Earley" on his record.

Thing is, the marriages of the 3 children involve people who may be living -- do you want to look for them and send them by PM? I have to go have din and get some sleep ...

That sticks you with looking for their kids, too. ;)
