I've been trying to find my Grandfather John Turner for some time. I hired aa 'expert' on Ancestry. com. She was very good but could not unearth him in England. She suggessted I go back to the Australian records and find out as much as I can here in Australia first on John than flip back to England. John Turner married Elizabeth May True about 1928. In Sandy Falls NSW. |

Because NSW births finish at 1908 on the net, you're best bet would be to order the marriage cert which are gnerally fantastic in nsw and give parents names/occupations/birth places of brides and grooms etc: |

......NSW/BDM also shows marriages of the daughters -in particular:- 1950 Una Evelyn Turner m Laurence Henry Beaver (he died Reg.No 21448/1974). (no death record for Una Beaver) ....... You may find Una on the electoral roll (NSW State Library has an 'Ask a Librarian' service (on-line) -they will check electoral rolls for you.) ....In case it helps there's a Jessie True also from Gundagai -m 1927 Henry J Chilton -she d1935 her parents Thomas P & Fanny E G True. .... There's 'Joy Murrin's Transcription Service' -to seach cert/s. for abt $15 (i.e. Laurence Beaver) to find their off-spring. ....Valerie (WAus) |

Thankyou to the kind people who looked up the info for me, sorry I took too long to reply. I went to the doctors for a painful rash on my face and it turns out it is shingles. Now wonder it's sore. |

Sorry to hear about your shingles it is very painful, but we don't want you to get any other pains. If you do have any certs for john it would be best to give us all you have, especially the marriage cert, as I say nsw are fantastic. |

was john an only child do you know? There is nothing coming up on the census with the correct parents, if he came out to aus by himself, then he's one of thousands of john turners in immigration and emigration records, and there doesn't appear to be a george and harriet on any census, that I can find? Perhaps they were irish? |

This is the only birth that might fit coming up on family search. There's something amiss here, it shouldn't be this hard!! Does the marriage cert give george or johns occupation? |

No John supposely had sisters. His father George was a bricklayer. I was told that their was irish blood so it could be Harriet as Barry sounds Irish but the 'EXPERT' checked all that avenue, came up with a Berry? |

can you let us have the sisters names and approx dates of birth if you know them? Or even if they were older or younger? A thorough search of the 1881/91 census gives us no john with mother harriet, plenty of georges and other names but no bricklayers. It may be that harriet died between 81/91, so a list of the sisters names may be able to hlep sniff out george and john. |

Yep, I'm sorry but there is nothing coming up, not even on the irish site. On johns marriage cert did it say his father was deceased? Sometimes that can be used if his father was unknown?? This is so frustrating!! Regards Linda :) |
