Zoe it is not helpful to have information duplicated. All you need to do is nudge your thread up buy asking further questions if you need help.

You've got to be kidding!

Zoe,

The least you could have done was to point out a lot of this had been covered before.

If he joined the Royal Navy you might be able to find his Naval record on the National Archives site. It might be one of the downloadable ones which would cost £3.50.

I'm not seeing a James Hawkins born in Rochester on any of the other censuses.

There's only one Henry Andrew Hawkins on Ancestry but he was from Hampshire/Surrey and there's no James with him.

Sylvia.

I know you dont have to subscribe to FMP to access the 1911 census. What I meant was even if you have a subscription you still have to pay to view it

Zoe did the occupation of James Hawkins in the institution match what you have

Zoe

Zoe Report 12 Sep 2009 23:55

hi guys, i have just bought some credits and seen that james lived in an institution, meaning he lived in the hospital quarters. his birth does not match up with the one my nan has in her diary december 1870, but maybe she was wrong, x

Quinsgran

not quite correct

You can go direct to the 1911 website without having to go through findmypast

www.fmpbsol.1911census.co.uk/

I don't see the point in paying a subscription to findmypast just to access the 1911 census, on which you then have to buy credits!

Unfortunately only Find My Past have the 1911 census. Even those who have a subscription to FMP have to pay
