This was a marriage to Mary Ann Workman, who i thought was my great grandmother. It was the wrong Joseph Nicholson this one was a farmer, and the Joseph i'm looking for is a Stonemason.

I am not sure if i have found the right Mary Ann Sinclair on 1861 or 1871 censuses? I have found a couple of Mary A Sinclairs.I have just looked on the 1911 census it says they have been married for 32 years, so that should be about 1879 when they got married.

Yes I have had a Mary Ann Workman as my great grandmother on my family tree for months, only to find out I was barking up the wrong tree, I got a birth certificate for their daughter Mary Nicholson born 1878 in Carlisle, and that said mothers name was Mary A Sinclair.

Did you get Mary's maiden name from a child's birth certificate?

Perhaps they didn't marry? Or did so later than you think...........

I think I would be better off looking for a needle in a manger, than this Marriage.
