Find Ancestors

REVISED POST : I am trying to find the first marriage of Thomas Cook, born in Weston Subedge,Gloucestershire(& baptised there on 30 August 1812).
Have looked on IGI & it states his mother is Hannah Cook (no father is listed on baptism record so i think that Hannah is probably unmarried).
On 1851 census he is recorded as "widower",& he married Mary Hughes in 1852.He seems to have had 2 children with Mary: Hannah or Anna (born 1852/1853) & Thomas (born about 1859).
Can anybody uncover any leads as to who wife number one may be ? Thanks !

Bit of a common name! Where is he living in 51 and 61, to know where to look in 41? Or have you found him in 41?

horribly common name to research !!!(lots of Thomas Cook's in Gloucestershire..).
1851 census says living in Evesham,Gloucestershire ,could not find 100% Thomas on 1841 census...IGI states Nancy Cook baptised 1798(mother Hannah Cook,no listed father).Thomas + Mary Cook still in Weston Subedge on 1881 census(he died very shortly after).Can someone take a look on IGI for me & see if i am doing something wrong( a fresh pair of eyes ,please!

100 people were enumerated in West Sub Edge in 1841.


There was no Thomas Cook/Cooke/Cooks

and in fact only one Thomas in total:-

No one seems to be able to find Thomas in 1841, or any record of a marriage. If you locate the magic wand that will do this, many of us will be beating a path to your door!

but there are no marriages after 1812 in the IGI. Or baptisms. So if he was there, his marriage and baptism aren't accessible via the IGI.

you can look at marriages that have been transcribed for Thomas Cook-s in Gloucestershire. The only ones in Weston Subedge are 1802 and 1783.

Without finding him in the 1841 census with a wife, and having some way of knowing it is him, how you would cross-reference to any marriage you found is a mystery anyway.
