Can anyone help me please. i know my great grandfather benjamin Thomas Quick 1872 married elizabeth gazeley 1873 in St Albans1893c. But he never lived at home every often. I was if he was a bigamist as there is also a benjamin quick who married a miss pogee in watford in 1913 with is only 1 town away.

The freeband record show his first wife as being Sarah Elizabeth and his second wife's name was Dorothy. The only Elizabeth or Sarah Elizabeth Quick's death is one in South Stoneham Hampshire in 1899. Maybe they were divorced.

he made elizabeth at st peters church st albans then they lived at 19 london rd. He was taken prisoner of war in 1914 but realest. But he never came home.

i was just looking at freebmd and it was a benjamin quick married 1913 in watford to a miss pogee and was just wondering if it was the same person. he was still married to elizabeth in 1911 as that is the yr my gt uncle john was born

I watched WDYTYA the other week when the actress found out her grandfather was a bigamist. and my mother was wondering if that was happened to her grandfather as she never met him. we know elizabeth lived into the 1950s but after ww1 benjamin was never seen again but cant find any death records for him but they were never divorced as far as the family knows

thank you everyone for your help we do have the same family. so now the question is was it the same benjamin that marrried Podgee and was he a bigamist ??????

Niot sure but the only thing I can think of is to order the Marriage Cert for the first marriage and see the fathers name listed and then order the second marriage cert to see if same father?

Perhaps someone can tell you if any different

I suspect the second one is probably the one who married Dorothy M Pobgee (the first one being 'yours') :
