Oh, well, of course, most of those threads, the ones I spent HOURS AND HOURS working on, the ones that contained all the information that's now been "found" all over again for no reason, have been deleted.

Not something I'd be spending more time on.

this thread is closed ,the only reason i asked for the census was for my benifet ,as you know all info can't be found ,as i have looked myself. As i wish to have the census info to hand,i have not opened this thread for Trish,purly for me ,in the hope of finding something new,one day maybe.i have been trying to help Trish for a long time,but have come back for a further go.I know you have done a lot of research for her ,but where has it gone,i have not acsess to cencus's at the mo ,i only wish i did ,I hate having to ask for help with them,even for my own.

The thing is, Trish has all this information. It has been posted repeatedly in threads that Trish chose to delete. If Trish wants help, Trish should offer the information she has, instead of the standard "I know blah blah so don't post that". Trish should know by now that for anyone to help, they need to know what she knows.

If the answers to these questions were anywhere to be found by anybody at this website, they would have been found. If Thomas and Annie were married, they did not marry in England. Period. If Annie died in England, there is no record anybody here can find. Etc. Trish might want to find somewhere where there are people expert in / with access to US records that might help, but nobody here is or has.

Not everything that has happened in this world has left a record, let alone one accessible on line. It's something we just have to live with.

If I showed up every two months calling for help finding the marriage of Francis Hill and Sarah Bond, which I can't find, because there is no accessible record of it, *if it ever happened*, I'd expect people to get very tired of me very quickly.

Haha - that's right, you *do* know my Hills!

The only update is that my mum's oldest living cousin, the only one who had first hand knowledge of any of it (as a teenager, she was Ernest Hill/Monck's confidante) died last year, but my mum and I had lunch with her son last month and I pretty much know what she knew now. She knew the reason why Ernest changed his name, even without knowing (which I had discovered) that he had changed his name - that he was Hill until he deserted in India c1878, and then Monck. That still leaves the question of why Monck. ;) Oh, and the case he carried everywhere with him for nearly 60 years, that was to go to that elderly cousin on his death, was burned by one of his daughters-in-law whose family was far too nice to be associated with what was obviously in it. There will be a lynching party in the afterlife. ;)

This is the first i have heard of Francis Hill , all you asked was to find a girl in c 1842/3 make it clear,spell it out ,hahaha

Mary Emma Hill (Emma), per censuses born 1843 in Jersey, was, per censuses, the daughter of Francis Hoare Hill (1819 Tamerton Foliatt, Devon) and Sarah Emma Bond (1819 Saltash, Cornwall) (parents' baptisms confirmed).

Next kids:

William Stephen Hill b1844 (reg 1845) Stoke Damerel
- Francis's younger brother was Stephen; no trace of him ever
Jacob James Hill b 1846 (reg 1847) Stoke Damerel
- Sarah's father was Jacob

Family in Linkinhorne, Cornwall 1851; Sarah and children in Plymouth 1861, no trace of Francis. (I recently decided that the person I had identified as him in St Giles is really Frances Hill, with her children visiting, the visiting children being why I'd figured my Francis was related to that Frances's husband in the first place, and traced those Hills all over the map!)

Sarah and two children in St Giles in 1871. Francis living with new "wife" whom he married summer 1871, and child. Francis died 1875.

Sarah = Emma Monk in Bebington, Cheshire, 1881 (city directory says Monck), with son Ernest Monk (my gr-grf, b 1851).

I figure Francis and Sarah Emma never married. I suspect he was previously married. Maybe that wife died in 1871. Maybe he was married to Sarah Emma and bought her off.

Mary Emma Hill 1843? No clue! Except that her grx2 granddaughter contacted me through Ancestry when she saw my notes to Mary's census records after her marriage to John Cheshire, and told me her family was always told that Emma was a Miss Montmorency from France.

Oh yes, the obvious -- I and the grx2 grdaughter have both searched tirelessly for Mary Emma Hill's marriage to John Cheshire of Wales, but despite a load of children, it doesn't seem to exist. Francis was in the mining biz, which Emma's husband then was too, and Emma's sister married a rich guy whose uncle was the local copper baron in Neath. So the connection seems to be that they met their hubbies through daddy, but marriage there is none, for Emma. (And the sister lied about her father on her marriage anyhow ...)
