You really need the marriage cert - I think it likely he was lying about place of birth as no sign of him in previous census reports. Possibly not much to be gained by looking at 1911.

thanks Erin.........I will have to get back to you with more information - I am researching for my mums friend so have not got all the details.....the ireland was word of mouth but think this maybe incorrect - I will recommend they start with buying the MC and then go from there.....thanks again

Stephen Report 17 Aug 2009 10:29

its strange that we cant find him in 1891 +1901.......if we have the birth record of him being born 1885 Marylebone its odd that we cant find him on the census......do you think its likely to be a spelling mistake on his surname on the census which is causing nothing to come up

Stephen...I have already posted on here so you can either send me a Personal Message by clicking on my name or just ask what you need to know on here...
I would not "assume" anything regarding Jeremiah and his place of birth ..you need to get his MC before you can proceed further...where did you get the info.that he was born in Ireland ...?

how do I get in contact with Erin???

Gee

Gee Report 17 Aug 2009 09:51

From reading a book recently on geneology, it states that a lot of the Irish said on census reports that they were born in England for fear of being sent back to Ireland. Not sure how true this is but I havent read anything to the contary

Erin is the Irish wizz on here so she might be able to comment?

I think a copy of the marriage cert is a necessity, hopefully it would give age and place of birth? He isn't coming up on the 1891 census?

Stephen, did a bad thing and edited my post a bit late! The Jeremiah above has birth as London - tried Ireland with no result. I would definitely pay to see transcript.

Family in 1911:

O'ROURKE JEREMIAH 1880 31 Paddington London
O'ROURKE MARGARET 1909 2 Paddington
O'ROURKE MARGARET 1882 29 Paddington London

Interestingly, specifying place of birth as Ireland produces no results, but the above soes come up if you put London. I would be inclined to buy some credits to view the census report.

Stephen....If you know where and when he married the first step would be to get a copy of his Marriage Cert.until you have further details..eg fathers name age etc...then you are looking for a needle in a haystack...Jeremiah and O'Rouke are prolific in the Co's Cork Tipp Clare Kerry...and that's just for starters....

Deseperately trying to find the birth record for JEREMIAH O'ROURKE - (or maybe O'ROUKE)
the only information I have is that he was born in Ireland
He married Margaret Thorne in Marylebone 1905
So I guess he was born c1880ish
Can anyone help me find his birth record or find him on the census as I have had no luck
Thankyou!!!!
