Karen you really need to buy the marriage cert. of Ernest and Ellen. This will tell you his fathers name and occupation. If you also buy his birth cert. This will tell you his mothers maiden name.

The only John and Mary I can find on a census I can't find them with a son Ernest. This John Hoad is a Police constaple and I can find other children to this couple on London Births and Baps but not an Ernest.

i am trying to bump this thread up. as I wonder if someone could maybe tell me abit more about ernests parents. all i seem to have is john and mary.

also i have just looked back on the last thread from gillian regarding my great grandmother being a servant in eastbourne. would you be able to tell me the address? i know that she worked in what was called the 'dog house' in hankham. as it is mentioned in a book and my mum knows this too. the old house was once owned by ian gow the mp who unfortunately died there.

Hi I'm looking for more information on the above two names, they were married in Dec 1899 in Cuckfield. They had 9 children 4 girls 5 boys. They moved around alot as they worked on farms etc. One of the girls was my nan Queenie Ivy Hoad born 8th march 1911 who married William George Hughes born 1915. My mum knows very little about her nan and grandad so any information would be gratefully appreciated.
