I am looking for my husbands great grandad William Armstrong who may have come from Dumfries born 1850-51. He was married to Mary Ann Welsh and shows in the census in Cumberland for 1881. He had a daughter Margaret who married John Bald. any information would be grateful. |

I got mary ann welsh from Margaret Bald and John Balds wedding certificate. They were married in Scotland 6/11/1930 in Portobello. It shows Mary ann as maiden name Welsh possibly Walsh as writing isnt quite clear on second letter of surname. I have tried searching for walsh too but no luck. Ancestry.co.uk gives the best information. Margaret was born 1848 and William Armstrong was born in 1850 in Scotland looking like it could be Dumfries area. the details came from the 1901 census for Whitehaven in Cumberland |

Hi the details I have for William and Mary are from their daughters marriage certificate. John Armstrong and Margaret are Marys parents. They married on 6/11/1930 in Portobello in Scotland. Marriage certificates in Scotland show the parents names and occupations. The surname for Margaret before she married looks like Welsh or Walsh. |

Hi I have Margaret and John Bald marriage certificate which was dated 6/11/1930 in Portobello in Scotland. Margarets parents were William Armstrong and Mary Ann Welsh or Walsh. Johns mum and dad were James Bald and Margaret Bald nee Archibald. Margaret was 21 at date of marriage and John was 23. I hope this helps a little more |

If Margaret Armstrong was 21yrs at the time of her marriage to John Bald, she must have been born c.1909. |
