Hello,
I have been searching for a few years now and I have had NO success. I am looking for information on my grandfather which oyu would think I would be able to get some information on but so far no luck at all.

I had to have my grandfather's (John Fletcher, West Ham) for my passport and altohugh the birth certificate states his parents ; their names are so so common that there's no way of narrowing down the entries.
PLEASE can someone help me on finding him or tips in general. I have already contacted the GRO
My grandfather: John Fletcher
His Father: Frederick Fletcher
His Mother: Eliza Ellis NEE Ball

Thank you so much for any help at all that you can give to me in finding information on my ancestors.

Hello,
Yes sorry, my grandfather was born in West or East Ham in 1922. His mother already had some children from 1917 so she wasn't very young when she had my grandfather.

my reading is she was Eliza Ball who married an Ellis -

'Eliza Ellis nee Ball'

BatMansDaughter Report 28 Jul 2009 19:52

Hi Choccy,

That was how I read it............. but Jess has a birth cert for John Fletcher born in 1922 in West Ham, so this is surely the 1 I posted???

MMN; Ellis. so she must have married Mr Ball???

We need Jess to come back and clarify things.

Hi,
Thank you for your help so far!
I also read as Elliss NEE Ball but then when I also search census for Ball births there are Eliza Balls that come up as well! So confusing! All I know is that she married Frederick Fletcher. I'm not sure where she was born nor Frederick Fletcher. Just that in 1922 they were in East/West Ham.

The only certain thing I know is that my grandfather was registered in West/East Ham in 1922 and his parents were Eliza Ellis nee Ball and Frederick Fletcher.

I really can't remember. I think from absolute memory that there was a George born from her first marriage and George had aother sibling and another sibling for John from Fredericks and Eliza's marriage - a sister born a few years before him - Elsie.

Hey Dee,

Hi Jess - may be a red herring but I have a Frederick Fletcher on my family tree born about 1810. He was living in St Pancras at the time of the 1901 census. He was sister to my great grandmother. I don't know anything else about him but want to know, like you!
