My grandfather Henry Walter John Huth Born 1870 lived in england until world war two when he was interned. He was married to florence margaret ferrier britow and they had two children william and Iris charlotte flossie huth. Do you know anything about what happened to people like him, he never took british citizenship! We believe that when he was back in germany he owned a house and business probably a restaurant. He also had a restaurant called Huth's in London before he was interned, Do you know what would have happened to this?

I'm finding quite a number of Huth's in the UK but none to fit the bill. Have you tried googling to find out about interned Germans in the UK?

Hi Anna,
Like you, my grandfather was a Huth - William Charles Huth. His father was born Wilhelm Theodore Henry in 1869 but by the time he married, his christian name appeared on the records as William. This family of 'Huths' lived in South East London.

I have managed to trace my 'Huth' ancestors back to a Theodore Huth born in 1837. His place of birth is shown on a cencus I looked at as Madberg, Prussia.

He came to this country with his wife, whose maiden name had been Amelia Focke, born in Hanover Germany. I'm sorry I haven't contacted you before, but I only today found your notes. If you know anything more about your relatives that may or may not tie in with mine, I'd be pleased to hear from you. Regards, Paula Ross

Hi Paula, you can also try putting the name into the search box above to see if anyone on this site has them in their tree. If you find a connection you can contact the tree owner. Cx.
