Jim Soton - just noticed your reply as I was going through making notes. Yes, I too am puzzled as to who Robert is? From his age, could he be an Uncle of John Mack's perhaps (his late father's brother?) Thank you for your input. You folk are great at helping out when someone is really stuck. |

Hi Denise - not I don't have the marriage cert, just the date and ref No. And yes, that 1901 census info you found showing John Mack as stepson is the one I found too and as you can see no way of me knowing which is him on 1881 census !! Oooh I could scream - stumbling blocks all the way it seems. |

I am in a bit of a quandary here. I am trying to trace back on the Mack family. I have a Edith Harwood who married a John Joseph Mack in 4Qtr 1902. I do know of 4 children they had - maybe more - but they had Thomas 1903, Edith 1904, Isabella 1907 and Violet 1909. As they didn't marry until 1902 I could not look for the family on 1901 census. I did however look separately for Edith Harwood (found with no trouble) but could not locate locate the John Joseph. The only John Mack b abt 1875/80 which I esitimate as his year of birth, was listed as stepson which was no help at all. Consequently I decided to take a look at each individual family member on the free 1911 look-up. I found everyone EXCEPT Jophn Joseph. There are about three John Mack's born Newcastle on Tyne at the correct time but not one of them is Joseph !! How come the rest of the family are listed but not the husband. I am never going to be establish his existence at this rate. I cannot look further into the 1911 as I do not possess any plastic cards to use online, so where do I go from here? As things stand I cannot trace him any further back to establish his parentage until I find his actual age/year of birth to see if I can locate him further back on 1881. Ooooh this is so frustrating !! |
